An article in Reuters online dated September 6, 2019 says that if the U.S. economy slips into a recession, homeowners in some parts of the country will be more affected than in others. If there is a recession, it will probably be caused by the US – China trade war; local economies in the parts of the US that are export-dependent will be affected the most. Concomitantly, housing prices in those areas will be impacted more than in other parts of the country. The article is not saying that prices will decline in those areas; but they may not rise as fast as in parts of the country less affected by a recession.
